Job Details

Children's Aid runs a summer day camp in Chappaqua, NY that brings together children from Manhattan, the Bronx, and Westchester. Campers and staff are bused to and from the camp each day. The purpose of this camp is to provide traditional summer camp activities (swimming, arts & crafts, sports, horsemanship, etc.) in the context of relationship building. The children who attend this camp are from different socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and range in age from 6-13. The Life Guard is responsible to maintain the safe operation of the pool by enforcing the pool rules, buddy checks, and controlling behavior. The Life Guard is supervised by the Water Front Director.

Essential Duties :

• Assist in the safe operation of the pools under the direction of the Water Front Director.
• Maintain all the supplies and equipment used in the program, keeping the storage area clean.
• Keep vigilance at whatever life guard station assigned.
• Participate in any in-service training offered.
• Work with the Water Front Director to staff late afternoon and weekend programming.
• Support in swim instruction as needed.
• Attend 3 days of training and 1 day of skill verification prior to camp.
• Fulfill job activities not listed here important to the success of the camp.
