Senior Underwriter (Multiline P&C Production Role)

IAT Insurance Group, TransGuard has an immediate opening for an underwriter to join our Moving and Storage Underwriting team. The TransGuard Insurance Company has long been a leader in this space. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of multi-line P&C risk experience managing and growing a book, with focus on commercial transportation, inland marine, or a similar line of business. This position can work from IAT's Alpharetta, Georgia or Raleigh, North Carolina location. For the right candidate, other IAT locations can be considered. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working remotely on Thursday and Friday. Occasional travel is required.

Responsibilities :

• Evaluates information to determine risk acceptability in accordance with company guidelines.
• Makes appropriate decisions based on evaluation of underwriting information.
• Prices risks per company standards.
• Effectively communicates and negotiates underwriting and pricing decisions to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Pursue sales-like leads through developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, brokers, and agents to drive new business opportunities.
• Documents decisions in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Acts with a sense of urgency on all inquiries / requests.
• Provides outstanding customer service.
• Builds effective working relationships with assigned agency personnel as well as internal company staff.
• Drives acceptable levels of new business opportunities through effective marketing to assigned agents.
• Effectively communicates with assigned agents the appropriate level of information to ensure understanding of company direction.
• Attends agency conferences and conducts seminars and breakout sessions.
• Participates and leads special projects as assigned.
• Handles a moderate number of agency assignments.
• Participates in annual planning meetings with assigned agents.
• Participates in quarterly stewardship meetings with key agents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
