Statement of Primary Purpose
Provide administrative leadership and instruction for the Nurse Aide training program. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, maintain program accreditation standards, and support faculty, staff, and students in meeting program goals.
This position includes the 9-month academic year and the full (8 week) summer semester.
Classification
Curriculum faculty, full-time, exempt.
Reporting Relationships
Direction received : Receives guidance and direction from the Director of Nursing; receives direct supervision from the dean of Health Sciences.
Direction given : Serves as Program Coordinator and Lead Instructor for the Nurse Aide program
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Teaching Performance
Teach a course load consistent with college workload policy.
Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.
Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
Stay current in the subject matter through professional development, professional organizations, and professional meetings, conferences, or workshops.
Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience.
Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet student needs.
Develop, update, and share course syllabi in a timely manner.
Evaluation of Student Learning
Establish meaningful student learning outcomes for courses.
Develop and implement methods that measure student progress toward student learning outcomes.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently, and return student work promptly to
promote learning.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, and submit grade records according to established deadlines.
Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
Support of College Policies and Procedures
Teach classes as assigned.
Post and maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and students.
Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Exercise stewardship of college facilities and materials.
Record and provide attendance data in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities
Serve on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned.
Participate in meetings and events required by the college, division, and program administrators.
Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program
administrators.
Support and collaborate with both part-time and full-time colleagues.
Contribute to departmental and divisional curriculum development processes.
Assist in selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks.
Participate in graduation ceremonies.
Demonstrate productive interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators.
Contribution to Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs
Maintain familiarity with college goals, mission, and long-range plans.
Contribute to planning and development processes through appropriate mechanisms and channels.

Participate in marketing, recruitment, and retention of students, faculty and staff.
Provide effective Program Coordination
Develop, implement, evaluate, and update Nurse Aide curriculum in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Maintain compliance with the North Carolina Nurse Aide program standards and training program regulations.
Prepare documentation for faculty approval through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) / Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR).
Ensure all policies, teaching materials, and curriculum updates are accurate and current.
Coordinate and prepare for North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) / Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) site visits (scheduled and unannounced).
Recruit, orient, and mentor faculty.
Ensure adequate clinical instructor coverage.
Facilitate student advising, registration, program information sessions, and orientations, and ensure accurate student records are maintained.
Verify student immunization, drug screening, background checks, and compliance records are uploaded and complete prior to clinical placement.
Manage and maintain clinical affiliation agreements with approved sites; identify new clinical opportunities.
Administer mock testing, oversee student evaluation, and maintain course master files.
Communicate program updates to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) / Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR), and college administration.
Prepare annual reports for the North Carolina Board of Nursing (BON) and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) / Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR)
Inventory, order, and manage instructional materials, including textbooks and faculty resources.
Participate in quarterly North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) / Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) update meetings and annual site surveys.
Facilitate and assist students with Credential testing sign-up, registration, and related processes.
Attend professional development activities, workshops, training sessions, and meetings to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Provide academic and administrative support to students and faculty.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in the United States.
Minimum of one (1) year (2,000 hours) of RN experience in the provision of long-term care facility services in the United States, demonstrated by one of the following :
Direct work experience in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility, or a skilled nursing facility that is a distinct part of a hospital.
OR
Supervising or teaching students in such a long-term care facility.
Nurse Aide teaching experience preferred.
Physical Demands

Equipment Operation
All equipment commonly utilized by Nurse Aides in classroom and clinical practice including computer, audio-visual equipment, projectors, simulation technology, and learning management systems.
