Justice Of The Peace-Precinct #3
This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
Under limited supervision of the Justice of the Peace, performs professional supervisory and administrative support of moderate difficulty, including the development and administration of the department's budget, the management of case flow, record keeping, tracking, and collections.
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or related field, and four (4) years of administrative experience in a civil and criminal court environment or related field; AND three (3) years in a supervisory capacity; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education; must pass extensive criminal and background checks.
Knowledge of : Applicable State of Arizona statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, and Federal rules and regulations; rules of procedures and statutes governing civil traffic cases; Yuma County policies and procedures; administrative and management best practices and procedures; human resources, accounting, budget and records management practices and procedures; computer hardware, software and peripherals to manipulate, enter, retrieve, and research court calendars, cases and records tracking databases and related software; court record, case file and legal document preparation practices and procedures; customer service and public relations methods and techniques; leadership methods and practices.
Skill in : Effective oral, and written communications; applying crisis intervention and prevention techniques; researching, analyzing, and interpreting court business and workflow processes utilizing current established metrics to maximize case management, and personnel efficiencies in accordance with judicial procedures and practices; reviewing, understanding, interpreting and implementation dynamic complex civil and criminal laws and regulations; leading, mentoring and delegating duties to subordinate staff; preparing formalized lesson plans and procedures; utilizing MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; public speaking and presentations; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
Ability to : Research and write detailed reports; read, to write and synthesize data and reports; use modern office equipment and computers; assigning and leading the work of others; communicate effectively verbally and written; planning and organizing work; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. Working at a computer monitor for extended periods required. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
