MEI is looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the commissioning of mechanical systems to ensure they perform in accordance with design specifications, project requirements, and industry standards. This role requires a strong technical foundation in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems, along with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines, contractors, and clients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning, mechanical design, or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation.
  • Familiarity with commissioning standards (ASHRAE, NEBB, BCA, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with commissioning software is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced project environments.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for mechanical systems.
  • Perform functional and performance testing of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
  • Review design documents, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with project managers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Document test results, deficiencies, and corrective actions; track issues to resolution.
  • Support troubleshooting and provide technical solutions during commissioning.
  • Prepare detailed commissioning reports and turnover packages.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on commissioning progress and issues.
