Head Start - Family Engagement Coordinator

Under the direction of the Family Services Manager; the Family Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the agency's Family Partnership System, and Family Engagement System. Ensures the compliance of Head Start Performance Standards related to Family Partnership Agreements, and Family Engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• In coordination with the Family Services Manager, successfully implements the Head Start Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework in the Head Start program.
• Provides guidance and supervision to Family Service Associates.
• Ensures Family Services Associates have assisted families in identifying family's needs, assists families in developing family goals, assists families through the referral process and provides follow up for referrals and services provided.
• Ensures that families are linked to Health, Disabilities, Nutrition, Social Services and Mental Health services through a referral process.

EDUCATION :

Bachelor's degree in a field related to Social, Human, Family Services, Early Childhood Education or related field; relevant work experience in human services / social services or child development may be substituted for college level education.

EXPERIENCE :

At least two (2) years of related experience with emphasis in family services, parent involvement & engagement, training and knowledge of family dynamics, human relations, psychology or social work. Supervisory experience required. Experience dealing with sensitive family situations in a non-threatening and professional manner.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

Must possess a valid California driver's license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance. Must meet State health requirements including passing a physical examination as a condition of employment, and must provide verification of a TB clearance at the time of employment. Mandatory CPR and Basic First Aid certificate, which employee is responsible to maintain for the duration of their employment with Head Start.
