VITA Site Coordinator Position (Full Time)

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a free tax preparation clinic, which serves low-to-moderate-income individuals. This position involves a mix of administrative duties, volunteer supervision, and ensuring strict adherence to IRS and program-specific guidelines.

Duties and responsibilities

Volunteer management

• Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteer tax preparers, greeters, and quality reviewers.
• Create and manage volunteer schedules to ensure adequate site coverage and availability.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers on tax law, software procedures, and site processes.
• Motivate and lead volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.

Program administration and reporting

Qualifications and skills

A dedication to serving low-to-moderate-income communities and ensuring they have access to financial resources.

Proven ability to manage a team of volunteers and oversee daily operations.

The ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with a diverse group of clients, volunteers, and partners.

Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

The capacity to think strategically and address issues that arise during the tax season.

Familiarity with tax preparation software used by the VITA program (e.g., TaxSlayer).

Previous experience with tax preparation and completion of the Advanced IRS certification is required. Previous VITA Site Coordinator experience is preferred.
