Department
7400 Labor Delivery Performs department specific tasks related to patient care. Duties may include patient transport, equipment and supplies pick up / delivery and inventory, activity coordination, or any other assistance as assigned.
Qualifications
License / Certification Required : Heartsaver AED Experience Preferred : Healthcare experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Must have interest in the care of the sick. Must be able to exhibit a courteous and friendly manner to others.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Transports patients to locations as assigned. Consistently follows all procedures regarding safe transport or transfer of patients. Uses proper body mechanics at all times. Provides necessary assistance with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as assigned. Greets patient in friendly professional manner. Identifies self by name and job category. As assigned, assists patient with their needs. Picks up or delivers equipment or supplies as assigned. Checks and replaces equipment as needed. Maintains inventory of equipment or supplies according to procedure. Communicates condition of equipment using department procedure. Supplies are delivered on time and department is well stocked. Completes any paperwork or filing assigned, maintains logs or records. Department procedures followed at all times. Completes department specific technical tasks. Department procedure followed at all times. Complies with current policies and procedures including safety and infection control. Must keep all required certifications current. Performs tasks safely. Always keeps work areas clean and organized.

ICU ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR :
If assigned to pick up medication from pharmacy or the pharmacy medication dumb waiter and deliver to secure locations, staff knowledge of specific practices for safe handling and delivery of medication will be assessed and documented. RESPIRATORY SERVICES :
Performs ECG's in a timely manner assuring proper lead placement and quality ECG tracings. Maintains oxygen cylinder supply on each nursing unit and in all clinical departments. Understands and practices safe handling of cylinder gases per department policy. Cleans, disinfects and reprocesses all respiratory therapy equipment per department policy. Assists with stocking and maintaining respiratory supplies in all patient care areas. Makes routine equipment rounds as assigned. Removes discontinued equipment from the floors and expeditiously reprocesses the same. Assists respiratory care practitioners and secretary as assigned. LABOR & DELIVERY / OB :
Fully understands and complies with ensuring proper security of medications and secured supplies during distribution and replenishment activities. Reports any concerns immediately to manager. May stock IV Fluids and Irrigation Fluids in Labor & Delivery / OB OR. Responsible for maintaining PAR Levels and currency of dates on supplies that they stock. May have access to the following for the purpose of replenishment, stock rotation and expiration checks : ASSISTING THE ACTIVITY COORDINATOR :
Assists with coordination and scheduling of group activities. Assists with documentation of patient participation on an attendance record and a daily note sheet in the chart. Provides sports, crafts, special events, music, games and social activities for patients. Establishes and maintains good relationships with staff, patients and family. Maintains equipment, supplies, and upkeep of recreation dining room clean. Is familiar with modifications and activity adaptions for patients.
Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient / family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$20.00 -$30.00
