Base pay range

$137,000.00 / yr - $191,000.00 / yr

About Creative Audio

Creative Audio is a centralized team that touches every product Meta produces, making our team integral to the company. We collaborate with product and creative teams across Meta to design audio for video, post-production audio, final mixing and mastering, audio field recording, sound effects, and large scale content projects across a wide range of software and hardware, including but not limited to your phone, glasses, VR headsets, and AR / MR devices. We are a team of over 60 audio experts who design experiences that connect people through sound. Meta is looking for an experienced Sound Designer to join our Metaverse work.

As a Sound Designer, you must have a passion for sound and a demonstrated history of sound design for interactive and immersive experiences. You will be an instrumental part of day-to-day sound design across Meta audio experiences. You will collaborate closely with other team members and cross-functional product teams, providing creative feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Create world-class sound design for immersive experiences
  • Collaborate closely with partners to determine scope of work, planning and execution of sound design and implementation
  • Understand product voice to maintain quality and leverage existing content for consistency and efficiency
  • Contribute to the development of sound design systems by establishing audio design standards, guidelines, and best practices
  • Prep and test for implementation accuracy, and collaborate with internal and external team members to address bugs and optimize sounds in the product
  • Operate in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment
  • Collaborate with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products
  • Influence key business decisions with data-driven recommendations
  • Create unique, memorable sonic experiences to maintain quality and reuse resources for efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams and software developers for seamless sound implementation

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience creating sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and immersive environments
  • Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)
  • Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products or experiences
  • Experience with sound design synthesis and latest plugins
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated music production experience
  • Demonstrated skills in Pro Tools and / or other professional DAWs
  • Understanding of human-centered design
  • Experience managing, scoping and communicating project milestones and deliverables
  • Experience testing implementation of sounds
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Time-management and organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking
  • Understand accessibility requirements

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or other immersive mediums
  • Experience mixing in various formats, including spatial audio
  • Experience recording in a studio and on location
  • Post-production skills, including editing and mastering
  • Knowledge of acoustics, equipment setup and calibration
  • Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)
  • Experience in designing audio for AR and VR experiences

    Compensation note : $137,000 / year to $191,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
