About The Position

Job Title : Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Position Details

Specialty : Respiratory Therapy

Setting : Acute Care Hospital / ICU / ER / Med-Surg

Contract Type : 13 Weeks (Travel or Temp Assignment)

Schedule : Variable shifts (Days / Nights; weekends & holidays as needed)

Patient Population : Neonates, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics (depending on facility)

Certifications & Licensure

Required :

Current RRT License (NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist)

BLS Certification

Preferred :

ACLS, PALS, NRP depending on patient population

State license (if applicable)

Experience

Minimum 1–2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience (ICU / ER preferred)

Proficiency with ventilator management, airway care, and oxygen therapy

Experience in critical care and emergency settings preferred

Core Responsibilities

Provide respiratory care and therapy to patients as prescribed by physicians.

Manage ventilator settings (invasive & non-invasive) and monitor patient responses.

Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis , interpret results, and adjust therapy accordingly.

Administer aerosolized medications , oxygen therapy, and chest physiotherapy.

Assist with intubations, extubations, and airway management procedures .

Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and home care equipment.

Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and care.

Maintain equipment (ventilators, BiPAP / CPAP machines, oxygen delivery devices) and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the EMR.

Respond to codes and rapid response situations .

Key Skills

Ventilator Management (adult, pediatric, neonatal if applicable)

Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis & interpretation

Airway Management (intubation / extubation assistance)

CPAP / BiPAP, High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Oxygen therapy and titration

Emergency response & critical care support

Patient & family education

Additional Notes

COVID-19 & Flu Vaccinations may be required per facility guidelines

Housing may be included for travel contracts
