General Ledger Accountant
Location : Hybrid – Marin County
Salary Range : $80,000 – $95,000 (DOE)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized General Ledger Accountant to join a growing Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) organization. This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy working cross-functionally with finance, operations, and supply chain teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, post, and review monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and amortizations.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and related accounts in coordination with operations and supply chain.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and resolve variances.
- Support compliance filings such as business registrations, census reports, and property tax.
- Assist with annual external audits, including preparation and review of supporting schedules.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
- Support process improvements, ERP system enhancements, and ad hoc financial analyses.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably within a CPG, manufacturing, or distribution environment.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Sage, or similar) preferred.Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, large datasets).CPA or active progress toward CPA certification a plus.Skills & Attributes
