The position :

The Fiberglass Technician Apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced fiberglass technicians to learn the skills necessary for repairing, restoring, and maintaining fiberglass boats and related components. This entry-level role is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on training, develop craftsmanship, and build a career in fiberglass repair and marine services.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Assist senior technicians with fiberglass repairs, refinishing, and gelcoat work.
  • Prepare boats and components for repair, including sanding, grinding, cleaning, and masking.
  • Learn how to identify damage and understand proper repair methods.
  • Mix and apply resins, gelcoats, and other fiberglass repair materials.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Support in creating repair estimates and communicating findings to service advisors.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company standards.

Qualifications :

  • Strong interest in hands-on repair work and craftsmanship.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
  • Previous experience with tools, automotive, construction, or marine work is a plus but not required.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending) for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in and around boats, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
  • Work Schedule Requirements :

  • Monday – Friday 8 am to 5 pm
  • Off season, opportunity to work Monday – Thursday 7 am to 5 pm
  • Shop / repair setting with hands-on work.
  • Full-time schedule with potential overtime during peak seasons.
