The Role

The maintenance technician is a key part of a maintenance team and is responsible for the safe and efficient operating conditions of the company's facility and equipment. As the Maintenance Technician, you will be performing a wide variety of duties including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment. This position is also responsible for the complete electromechanical and electronic repair, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting plant equipment, and facility / property maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Understand the preventive maintenance (PM) system and its implementation. Prepare and schedule preventive maintenance
  • Responsible for understanding equipment in order to troubleshoot, mechanically and electronically, to locate and repair sources of problems
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance. Following operational manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and instructions on PM assignment work sheet
  • Demonstrates capabilities in handling complete factory startups as required; this includes equipment setup, boiler checks, cooling tower checks, ventilation system checks, and basic refrigeration system checks
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and simple electrical systems in the manufacturing facility and offices
  • Inspect equipment on a daily basis to ensure proper maintenance practices including cleanliness are being practiced. Inspect all equipment after it has been serviced either by work order or PM order to ensure machines do not go back online with a problem
  • Reviews and maintains work logs, work orders, PM sheets, and breakdown reports, and take corrective actions when necessary
  • Remove defective parts and replace as needed
  • Ensure Lock out Tag out procedures are applied and implemented when needed
  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example window, door, or wall repair
  • Identifying and repairing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Fundamental carpentry skill to perform basic repairs
  • Completes all necessary paperwork related to planned and unplanned work performed.
  • Ability to understand technical equipment manuals and diagrams
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and inventory by checking out parts from stock to determine inventory level
  • Researches, specifies, and submit purchase requisitions with list of parts needed for repairs; identify if parts are for stock or for a specific project
  • Control and minimize downtime while maintaining communication with Maintenance Manager and Operations management
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Suggests any opportunities for improvement on equipment or set ups that will help the process
  • Works closely with the management, production, and other departments to eliminate downtime and to improve operational efficiencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities :

  • Strong general mechanical and electrical aptitude; demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment, both mechanically and electrically
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronics testing devices
  • Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, parts catalogs electrical diagrams and schematics as necessary
  • Must have the ability to operate a variety manual and power tools
  • Ability to work near and around moving mechanical parts
  • Take initiative, proactive with a sense of urgency and bias for action
  • Ability to be truthful and credible in the workplace by displaying a strong sense of ownership of work
  • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the details of a project or task
  • Good organization and time management skills to ensures tasks are completed within set deadlines
  • Self-Starter with ability to work independently with little supervision and flexibility to perform tasks as a member of the team
  • Communicate effectively, speaks clearly, concisely, and effectively. Presents ideas in a logical sequence. Acknowledges verbally what is said in conversations, actively solicits information. Uses information obtained from other conversations as input to analysis

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Able to reach with hands and arms and use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and stretch for extended periods
  • Able and willing to work in environments with extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous / loud equipment, and slippery surfaces
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to75 pounds
  • Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent - At least 18 years old and a valid driver's license
  • Related degree from a technical college
  • Strong background in electricity, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a maintenance technician role
  • Bilingual - English / Spanish
  • Basic math skills and able to read and write in English functionally
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office 365
  • Pay will be dependent on experience
