Transactional Lawyer (Lateral Hire – 5 to 10 Years of Experience)

Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a well-established law firm with a long history of serving clients throughout Maine and northern New England, is seeking a lateral hire to join and help grow our transactional practice. We are looking for a highly motivated attorney with 5 to 10 years of experience in transactional law who is ready to take the next step in their career. This position is designed with the expectation that the successful candidate will be on a path toward partnership.

Position Overview

The attorney will play a key role in our transactional practice group, working directly with clients ranging from small businesses and family-owned companies to large corporations and institutional lenders. The role will involve :

• Advising clients on business formation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and general contract matters.
• Representing clients in commercial and residential real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, and development projects.
• Assisting lenders and borrowers in structuring and closing commercial and residential financing transactions.
• Counseling clients on day-to-day operational issues, risk management, and compliance.
• Serving as a trusted advisor who can help clients grow and adapt their businesses over time.

The attorney will manage matters with autonomy, while benefiting from the collaboration and support of a full-service firm. As our transactional practice continues to expand, this position offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility, build lasting client relationships, and transition into a leadership role within the firm.
