Job Description

The Housekeeping lead ensures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in the Rooms Division of the Blackwell Inn. The primary function will be to inspect the work of other Housekeepers, and Student housekeepers, confirm the hotel's quality standards are maintained, direct employees and maintenance personnel to the areas where there are deficiencies or maintenance requirements, and assist in training and retraining custodial and student staff. Under general supervision from Housekeeping Managers, administrative supervision from the Rooms Division Manager, supervises up to 25 custodial workers, provides for the care, cleaning, and maintenance of Blackwell, its furniture, and fixtures. The Blackwell Inn is a 24 / 7 operation and must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months in Custodial Worker 2 title or equivalent experience; documentation of successful completion of department specific, advanced custodian certification testing (examples include Cleaning Management Institute, 3M(TM) S.M.A.R.T. Program, or other certification program recognized in the cleaning industry as reputable).

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and to read and write common vocabulary plus; documentation of 100 hrs. training in operation of cleaning equipment (or 1 mo. exp.); 100 hrs. documentation of training in supervision (or 1 mo. exp.); or equivalent.

Knowledge of : hotel cleaning and amenity standards; supervision skills; MSDS information and proper use of chemicals; operation of basic cleaning equipment; basic computer skills and use of whole numbers; ability to lift 30-50 pounds frequently with or without reasonable accommodation.
