Position Details
- Shift : Day Shift (6 : 00 AM – 2 : 45 PM) | ALL shifts may be required
- Security Clearance : Not required
- Position Type : Full-Time
Position Purpose
The Temporary Services Mechanic is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting temporary utility systems such as ventilation, power, water, air, and fuel support used aboard ships under repair. This position supports safety and efficiency by ensuring that all temporary services are functional and in compliance with OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety standards.

Oversees small work teams and plans, organizes, and prioritizes tasksProficient in freeze protection, backflow preventers, and fire station maintenanceInstalls water coolers and ensures compliance with safety regulationsKnowledgeable in applicable OSHA and NAVSEA standardsJourneyperson 3
Installs / maintains freeze protection systems, backflow preventers, and air dryersSets up hydrostatic tests and installs rat guardsPerforms walk-through inspections for NAVSEA compliance (009-07, 009-08, 009-28)Tests and repairs air / water manifolds and installs quick disconnects near hull penetrationsJourneyperson 2
Routes and inspects hoses, ducting, and electrical leads with limited supervisionAssists with installation and testing of air / water systemsUnderstands safety protocols and temporary equipment setupInstalls quick disconnects and water coolersJourneyperson 1
Assists with all temporary utility installations and shipboard routingReads ship layout drawings and understands compartmental nomenclaturePerforms receipt inspections of rental equipment (air compressors, generators, etc.)Certified in forklift operation and experienced in safe fuel handlingCompletes all work in compliance with NAVSEA 009-08, 009-24, and 009-28Ensures safe and clean work environment and proper PPE usagePhysical Requirements
