Responsibilities Position is in the Labor & Delivery unit of a hospital setting Unit has 8 beds and cares for L&D, postpartum, antepartum, newborns, infants under 28 days, Level 2A nursery, and GYN-surgical / mastectomy post-op patients Patient ratios : 1 : 2 for laboring patients and 1 : 3-4 for couplets Centralized fetal monitoring is in use Uses Epic charting system 48 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts Every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage required On-call participation required based on census and location Floating may be required to med / surg units within scope of practice, including CNA duties Primary responsibilities focus on care of laboring, postpartum, antepartum patients, newborns, and infants Opportunity to care for sick babies in a Level 2A nursery and post-op gyn-surgical cases Orientation is tailored based on experience, typically about 1 week for experienced travelers Support staff includes 24 / 7 lab and RT coverage, as well as a hospitalist in-house Hospital-provided scrubs are required Free parking is available on site Must commit to a fair holiday rotation (3 worked, 1 on-call) and follow facility RTO policies Travelers are welcomed and facility is considered traveler friendly Requirements Active SD or compact RN license required Minimum of 1 year recent L&D experience required First-time travelers accepted if L&D experience is met Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NRP Competency in EFM interpretation and intervention, as well as adult and neonatal assessment skills Must have completed a board-approved nursing education program Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as travelers Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-616889.
