BMS Federal is a Commercial and Government Mechanical Contractor located in Manassas, VA, seeking a full-time Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technician with knowledge of Commercial HVAC and Refrigeration systems to join our team. We are looking for a dependable, sharp individual who is detail-oriented and has a strong will to learn.
POSITION OVERVIEW :
The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing installs, repairs, and maintenance to a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, and packaged units throughout the district. This individual will directly assist our Commercial and Federal Building Project Managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Analyze, Plan, and Perform Preventive Maintenance of HVAC System
- Troubleshoot, repair, and make modifications to the HVAC System
- Adhere to all city, state, and federal regulatory statutes
- Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations
- Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC Equipment
- Manage relationship with all major vendor accounts
- Properly maintain and safeguard district assets
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair Commercial Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Systems, including Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Heat Pumps, Rooftop Units, Chilled Water Heating and Cooling
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration systems to determine the cause of the malfunction

Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprintsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to run copper piping and PVCAbility to organize work and meet deadlinesStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsUnderstands and has mastered the refrigeration cycles to include : identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using a manifold gauge set, pressure / temperature chart, and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshootUnderstands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging. Understands the installation and sizing of refrigerant pipingUnderstands and has mastered the heating cycle to include : identifying components in the heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance, and troubleshooting and repairUnderstands and has mastered the fundamentals of temperature and humidity measurement and control in air conditioning units. Understands the process of treating air to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distributionPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS :

EPA Universal CertificationVirginia, Maryland, West Virginia, or Washington DC HVAC License (Master or Journeyman)Service Technicians with at least 3 to 5 years Commercial or Industrial HVAC experienceShould have a good understanding of Commercial Refrigeration System Repair and Preventive Maintenance ServiceMust have a valid driver's license and good driving recordObserve all company procedures and OSHA safety rulesMust be able to work weekends and holidays if neededHigh School DiplomaMust be able to pass the criminal background checkBENEFITS :
