Project Manager 1

The University of Miami / UHealth Department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Project Manager 1 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Project Manager 1 (H) oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of a variety of projects to ensure the successful development, completion, and implementation of department projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities include :

  • Defining the scope of projects in conjunction with leadership.
  • Discussing the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
  • Determining the resources required to complete each project.
  • Establishing and documenting comprehensive project plans and timelines, which identify and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete projects.
  • Reviewing project schedules with leadership and other staff that will be affected by the project activities.
  • Monitoring the progress of the projects and making adjustments to ensure successful completion.

Department specific functions include :

  • Preparing reports and analyses involving quantitative and qualitative interpretation of data for internal and external constituencies.
  • Conducting space audits, surveys, and planning studies for all UHealth / MSOM areas and at all campuses.
  • Regularly consulting with Deans, Department Directors, Vice Presidents, and others to coordinate and complete internal and external surveys.
  • Developing standards and guidelines for space policies and procedures.
  • Promoting these standards throughout the Institution.
  • Evaluating improvement opportunities for existing drawing, data management systems, and for metrics available to analyze space.
  • Working closely with the Medical Space Planning team to develop new processes for allocating space among UHealth / MSOM departments.
  • Monitoring the integrity of, verifying, and updating space data and CAD drawings.
  • Developing, organizing, and conducting training sessions on the use of the UHealth's space management system.
  • Generating test fits for space and relocation projects in graphic and tabular form.
  • Documenting and gathering all data obtained through the verification process and preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Developing and / or modifying database queries and generating reports for special projects and in response to user requests.
  • Serving as departmental liaison to other UHealth / MSOM departments, committees, and task forces.
  • Providing support to project managers and other team members as needed.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in space management software and CAD capabilities.
  • Core qualifications include :

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge, skills, and attitudes include :

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Strong knowledge of space planning principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to space management and optimization.
  • Prior experience using Business Intelligence (BI) tools, reports, dashboards, and data models preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise CAD drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve spatial conflicts.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage student workers, CAD technicians and / or planners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to develop accurate, well written emails and reports.
  • Ability to establish team goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
