Position Title : Remote Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (Part-time)

Employment Type : Part-Time
Pay Rate : $20.00 / hour
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Review patient charts and medical documentation to identify appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for reimbursement
- Assign and verify codes, ensuring they align with medical records and follow coding guidelines
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims; resolve billing discrepancies and resubmit as required
- Process provider enrollment with other health insurance plans
- Perform credentialling for providers and new insurers
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, payer regulations, and healthcare compliance requirements
- Submit claims to insurance payers electronically
- Regular communication regarding accounts receivable with designated health care personnel
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong knowledge of Microsoft AccessAbility to meet defined performance and production goalsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsMinimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or equivalent and minimum 2 years' experience in medical billing and / or codingMaintain professional certifications (e.g. AHIMA, AAPC, NHA)Proficiency with electronic health records, medical billing software, and claims management platformsStrong working knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), ICD-10 Coding, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), and payor specific coding rulesFamiliarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiologyExperience with insurance billing processes and regulatory requirementsMaintain patient confidentiality per HIPAAProven experience in medical billing and codingAUBURN UNIVERSITY AT MONTGOMERY IS AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION / EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
