Overview
Lead legal research on possible U.S. federal and state-level policy interventions supporting public safety, security, and wellbeing for scenarios of highly multipolar AGI run amok. Research on underutilized authorities, opportunities for better communication and response, and for legal loopholes that may be filled by an action of an executive agency, all against the backdrop of the reality of the changing landscape in D.C.
Work closely with the Public Security Policy program lead to craft creative holistic solutions to projected catastrophic issues regarding public health and safety, civil rights, human rights, national security, global security, emergency preparedness, emergency management, economic stability, infrastructure security, and novel threat profiles.
Neither deep technical AI knowledge nor AI-specific policy experience is necessarily required, as the legal codes and policies in question are regarding the next lines of defense of society after AI governance would fail. CARMA\'s other teams in AI risk assessment, offense / defense, and geostrategic dynamics will happily assist in scenario analysis of the risks to mitigate.
