Base pay range : $28.00 / hr – $31.50 / hr
Overview
We are seeking a Mobile Survey Tech II to support construction and renewable energy projects. The role is on-site, 100% travel to job sites and requires strong field survey skills and clear communication with project teams.
Responsibilities
- Collect field data using advanced measuring equipment
- Collaborate with the project team to understand construction sequence and survey integration
- Use GPS equipment to set construction layout, including center and offsets, and field-fit miscellaneous items
- Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements for a variety of disciplines with verified horizontal and vertical residuals from client-provided benchmarks
- Perform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for construction projects
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawing, sketches, etc.
- Verify horizontal and vertical residuals daily using client-provided benchmarks
- Search for section corners, property states and survey points
- Position and hold vertical rods or targets for sighting angles, distances, elevations, etc.
- Maintain and troubleshoot all GPS equipment as directed by Survey Equipment team
- Ensure equipment and tools are clean, properly powered down, and stored at the end of the day
- Operate field tools and supplies safely to minimize injury and property damage
- Foster effective communication among surveying, engineering, and project management teams
- Provide regular updates on surveying progress, challenges, and solutions to site and office management
- Work independently and as an active member of the team
- Mentor and serve as subject-matter expert for other Mobile Survey Technicians
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in surveying, remote sensing, drafting, engineering, or related field3–4 years of survey experience in construction or operations with exposure to engineering, civil, or renewable energy activitiesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communicationComputer literacy with proficiency in file managementAdvanced knowledge of ALTA surveys and related schematicsProficiency with survey software such as Trimble Business Center, MAGNET Office, or Civil 3DStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsCommon sense in following written or oral instructionsAbility to work within precise accuracy standards and follow set procedures and standardsMentoring and influencing other survey team membersKnowledge of all survey disciplinesBasic electrical knowledgeWorking Environment
