Hours & Location

Location : 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065

Shifts available : Monday - Friday from 9 AM - 12 PM, 12 PM - 3 PM, 3 PM - 6 PM.

Please indicate all shifts you are available for in your application.

Volunteer Opportunity

As a Guest Service Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a warm welcome and guiding them through the hospital with care and professionalism. Whether escorting guests to their destinations or assisting with tasks like wheelchair transport and flower deliveries, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive and supportive hospital experience. This role involves standing for extended periods at the main entrance and offering friendly assistance throughout the facility.

As a volunteer, you may :

Provide a warm and friendly greeting to all visitors and patients entering the hospital, creating a positive first impression.

Accompany patients and visitors to specific areas, such as departments or waiting rooms, ensuring they reach their destinations with ease.

Answer general inquiries about the hospital's layout, services, and visitor policies.

Assist with transporting patients in wheelchairs if needed, ensuring comfort and safety during their visit.

Support the delivery of flowers to the Information Desk and bring them up to patient rooms.

Round the first floor and set up magazines for patients and visitors to read.

Who We're Looking For

Age 16+

Able to commit to a weekly 3-hour shift for at least 6 months

If you are a former or current MSK patient, you must be out of active treatment for at least one year

Friendly, reliable, and comfortable engaging with patients, families, and staff

Comfortable standing and walking around for extended periods of time

Tech savvy

Onboarding Process (average 4-6 weeks)

Virtual interview (based on scheduling needs and program fit)

2-3 reference checks

Background check & drug screen ( 18+ only )

Medical clearance (flu and other immunizations required; at applicant's expense)

• To stay active in the program, onboarding must be completed within 4-6 weeks. If your application is pending at any onboarding step for 30 days, your application may be rejected.

This is an unpaid volunteer role. The Volunteer Department does not oversee paid employment, internships, shadowing, or educational programs. Our program provides meaningful, long-term opportunities to support patients and staff.
