What To Expect
The Associate Launch Engineer - Steer Axle - Semi is responsible for managing the operations perimeter related to introducing the Tesla Semi and relevant systems into the production environment. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to ensure engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain validation targets are met according to product launch timelines. The Launch Engineer manages pre-production build processes, MBOM setup, factory readiness, and the tactical implementation of the program into production alongside the Technical Program Manager.
What You'll Do
- Drive all activities related to the operations perimeter for your program(s) into the factory / factories, aiming to meet or exceed program milestones.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional Program and Manufacturing Readiness forums, providing updates and recovery plans at both working and executive levels.
- Oversee manufacturing validation for the program, drive supply chain readiness, organize factory transition, and follow up on excess / obsolescence planning and post-program activities.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate all pre-launch build activities and facilitate ramp management with operations teams.
- Oversee finalization and validation of the MBOM for the program.
- Validate all factory systems (MRP, ERP, MES) regarding launch preparation.
What You'll Bring
Degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.Minimum of one year experience in automotive, technical, or high-volume / high-complexity manufacturing, including internships.Knowledge of production operations, including industrial workflows, line balancing, OEE, error proofing, etc.Background in manufacturing / industrial engineering and supply chain is desirable.Understanding of manufacturing validation processes for complex new products across engineering teams and factories.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, versed in various methodologies.Basic understanding of CAD models and manufacturing drawings; proficient in Microsoft Office and JIRA.Benefits
