Responsibilities Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with a focus on L&D, postpartum, and newborn care Patient population includes women over 20 weeks gestation, postpartum mothers, well newborns, and post-op GYN patients Typical nurse-to-patient ratios : 1 : 1 for active labor, 1 : 2 for early labor without epidural or pitocin, 1 : 2-3 for antepartum, 1 : 6 for moms or well babies or mother / baby care Assignment schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) for a 13-week contract Weekend shifts include Friday and Saturday nights, with up to four weekend shifts assigned per six-week schedule Holiday coverage required for Labor Day Main duties include providing nursing care throughout the labor and delivery process, circulating during Cesarean Sections, and caring for postpartum mothers and well newborns Department is staffed predominantly by RNs with opportunities to care for OB, GYN, mother / baby, and antepartum patients Ages of patients range across childbearing age Scrubs are provided by the facility Interviews conducted via phone or video with direct manager offer process Requirements Active TN or compact RN license required Current certifications : BLS, ACLS, and NRP Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience in a similar setting required Prior travel nurse experience required Ability to circulate Cesarean Sections and provide care for postpartum and well newborn patients Comfortable with couplet care Experience scrubbing or assisting with Cesarean Sections preferred but not required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624011.
