Technical Manager

The Institute for Materials Research and Innovation (IMRI) at UL Lafayette is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee advanced manufacturing assets and workforce development programs. This role is central to managing classroom instruction and hands-on training in areas such as CNC machining, semiconductor manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and process automation. The Technical Manager will combine technical expertise with leadership skills to support IMRI's education, research, and workforce initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced manufacturing equipment.
Manage and coordinate technical training schedules and resources for workforce development programs.
Provide technical oversight and instruction for classroom and hands-on training modules.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to align training programs with industry needs.
Adapt and optimize technical systems and equipment to support evolving research and workforce projects.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, best practices, and university policies.
Communicate effectively with instructors, trainees, and stakeholders to support program success.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

Advanced degree in engineering, business or a related field.

Experience in project management.

Experience in a teaching environment (classroom and laboratory).

Skills, Abilities, Etc. :

Professional background in research, technical project management, or a related area.

Proficiency in manufacturing methods.

Proficiency in materials research techniques.

Leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience with pertinent metrology and analytical instruments.

Experience with assisting in design and / or modification of tools and experiment systems.

Compliance with research-related screening policies (e.g., international affiliations) if applicable.
