The Impact You'll Make in this Role
We are seeking a motivated Technical Supervisor to lead our global product development & engineering support activities for the ACCR high-temperature low-sag conductor portfolio. Through this, you will ensure that transmission grids worldwide deliver efficient and reliable power amidst evolving demand and supply conditions. Your responsibilities will include :
- Lead and manage a field engineering and product development team based at our St Paul headquarters, supporting global customer projects.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and effectively represent 3M's values and solutions.
- Collaborate end-to-end with cross-functional teams to prepare, submit, and execute high-impact customer projects.
- Coordinate with 3M manufacturing and external suppliers to ensure testing, qualification, and readiness for project deployment.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation across programs.
- Translate market needs and technology developments into project roadmaps and platform strategies.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical education / trainings within the organization.
- Connect with business and technical leaders across 3M's solutions stack, from low to high voltage electrical network solutions.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or higher in a Technical, Engineering, Materials Science or a science field (completed and verified prior to start)Five (5) years of Technical or Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment.Four (4) years of people leadership & management experience in a private, public, government or military environment.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include :
Advanced degree such as a Master's or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.Knowledge of power networks, distribution grids, cable, and / or accessory technology is advantageous.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Experience with metals, composites, or ceramic materials in Material Science or related fields.Experience in customer project management with a customer-first mindset.Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ANSI).Experience in regulated product categories, product risk assessments, and product reliabilityProven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams.Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and adapt to new technical spaces.Work location :
Maplewood, MNThis role has on-site working model, with the employee working at least four (4) days a week in the office at 3M Center, located in Maplewood, MNTravel : May include up to 10% domestic / international
