Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool position requiring a ND or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent Med / Surg experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Med / Surg Float Pool within an acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes surgical cases (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, diabetic issues)
  • Unit has 61 combined beds with a day ratio of 1 : 5 and a night ratio of 1 : 6
  • Utilizes Epic EMR; experience with Epic is required
  • 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Required to float as needed between units
  • Use of Cpap, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen equipment
  • Telemetry monitoring is present; monitor tech reads strips and RNs confirm
  • No titration of drips is required
  • Perform comprehensive care of diverse med / surg patients including post-operative and complex medical conditions
  • Orientation includes 12 hours of general and unit-specific training with a float checklist
  • Work within a team structure that includes nurse aides at a 1 : 15 ratio
  • Any scrub color is acceptable per dress code
  • Every other holiday coverage required
  • Candidates may not have worked directly for any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the last year

  • Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg nursing experience matching current unit standards
  • Experience with telemetry and basic respiratory equipment (Cpap, BiPap, high-flow)
  • Must provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years
