Job Purpose

In this role you will be part of Canoo's Power Electronics Team within the Propulsion group and will be the leader of current and forward-looking Power Electronics Components including Traction Drive Inverter(s), DC / DC Converters or Onboard Chargers. As the Project Lead you will be expected to communicate cross-functionally across all engineering disciplines to engineer and deliver high quality Power Electronics Components(s) for vehicle production.

Responsibilities (80s Of The Position)

  • Component Technical Specification (CTS) Owner responsible for the Component Release and Change Management Presentations
  • Manage Project Bill of Materials (BOM) and Sourcing Strategy
  • Oversee Project Schedule
  • Lead Design Failure Mode and Effects (DFMEA) Discussions and Documentation and Preliminary and Final Design Reviews (PDR / FDR)
  • Define Cost Targets, Support Budget Definition and Tracking
  • Manage Statement of Work's (SOW) and Request for Quote's (RFQ) and Manage First Article Sample Reviews
  • Lead Weekly Product Execution Team (PET) Meetings
  • Support Cross-Functional Team Members as Needed

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of professional engineering experience
  • Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Self-starter / ability to work independently
  • Multi-tasker, cover multiple projects at once

    • Preferred Experience

  • Master's degree in in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • More than 5 years engineering experience
  • Familiarity with automotive standards
  • Proficient in Catia V6 (3D Experience) or similar mechanical CAD tools or electrical schematic and layout tools
  • Experience in component design for various manufacturing processes such as casting, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication or printed circuit board and fabrication and assembly, wire harness assembly, and electronic assemblies.

    • Travel Requirements

    Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% depending on program phase.
