job_description.job_card.job_descriptionInstall and commission AV equipment (projectors, displays, interactive boards, cameras, control systems, DSPs, speaker systems) with emphasis on classroom and lecture hall environments. Terminate, test, and label AV cabling per AVIXA standards and ITC quality benchmarks. Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and adjustments to verify functionality and performance. Interpret signal flow diagrams, architectural drawings, and wiring schematics. Work in diverse construction environments, including lifts and confined spaces as required. Maintain effective communication with Project Managers, Account Executives, and clients regarding progress and site conditions. Represent ITC professionally with customers as a trusted technical leader. Provide feedback on project workflows to improve installation processes. Leadership Experience : 2–4 years in a lead or supervisory AV installation role. Certifications : CTS required; CTS-I must be achieved within 3 months. Technical Expertise : Knowledge of AVIXA standards and best practices for educational installations; proficiency with AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX), DSPs (Biamp, QSC), and video / audio distribution; familiarity with classroom technologies (lecture capture, wireless presentation, distance learning). Soft Skills : Strong leadership, communication, mentoring, problem-solving under tight timelines, and professionalism. Other Requirements : Ability to lift 75 lbs, work on ladders / lifts; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel regionally and nationally on short notice. Direct and coordinate AV technician teams on job sites; provide coaching and mentoring; ensure compliance with scheduling, safety, and quality standards; liaise with client representatives and ITC leadership. Demonstrates optimism, professionalism, accountability; leads by example; builds trust with colleagues and clients; communicates clearly and provides constructive feedback; upholds ITC’s reputation for high-quality AV integration. Primarily in educational environments and construction sites with varying temperatures; regular use of ladders, lifts, and hand / power tools; regional travel required with national travel opportunities. Position Purpose & Objectives
The Lead AV Technician directs and oversees installation teams in deploying professional AV systems, with emphasis on educational environments (K–12 and higher education). This role ensures installations meet AVIXA standards , project specifications, and ITC quality and safety guidelines. It provides on-site technical leadership, supports the development of junior technicians, and ensures compliance, performance, and client satisfaction. This position reports to a Project Manager and supports ITC’s mission of delivering Best-in-Class AV integration solutions.
Essential Responsibilities
- Leadership & Project Execution : Direct and oversee AV installation teams, ensuring work complies with AVIXA / InfoComm standards, manufacturer guidelines, and ITC procedures.
- Coordinate day-to-day project activities including scheduling and task assignments to ensure timely completion.
- Provide on-site problem solving, technical expertise, and serve as the primary technical contact for clients and project managers.
- Train, coach, and mentor junior technicians toward certifications (CTS, CTS-I).
- Maintain professional, safe job sites and uphold high customer satisfaction.
