Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Sturgis, MI area, is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to support and advance their Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Title VI air regulations while actively promoting a safety-first culture across the facility. The right candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a deep understanding of environmental compliance and a passion for driving continuous safety improvements. Key Responsibilities : Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations, including Title VI air permits. Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits; identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Assist in the development and delivery of employee safety training and onboarding programs. Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of preventative measures. Maintain accurate and complete documentation for EHS activities and regulatory reporting. Manage hazardous waste storage, labeling, and disposal in accordance with EPA guidelines. Assist in the creation and maintenance of emergency response plans, including drills and procedures. Oversee safety equipment and PPE management, including procurement and inspections. Lead behavior-based safety initiatives and promote a strong, proactive safety culture. Perform regular floor inspections to maintain EHS presence and visibility. Support the development and enforcement of tailored EHS policies specific to manufacturing and painting operations. Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Title VI regulatory standards. Experience in hazardous waste management and emergency response planning. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in conducting audits, leading investigations, and reporting compliance data. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. Preferred Qualifications : Experience working in environments involving painting, coating, or chemical handling. Demonstrated ability to drive safety initiatives and improve safety culture across departments. Multi-site experience or willingness to travel between facilities. Working Conditions : Frequent walking of the manufacturing floor in varied conditions. Regular exposure to industrial environments, including painting and decaling areas. Occasional travel to other company locations within the country.
