General Summary of Position

Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital Welcome to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Our 24-bed ICU offers specialized, compassionate care for critically ill patients, supported by a highly skilled team of professionals dedicated to making a difference each day. With a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, we ensure that each patient receives the focused, attentive care they deserve.

Our ICU serves a diverse group of patients, including those requiring complex medical and surgical interventions. In our Coronary Care Unit (CCU), we prioritize advanced cardiac care, including balloon pumps for patients with severe coronary needs. While our primary focus is on medical and coronary patients, we occasionally provide care for vascular and orthopedic cases.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.
