Description :
The Design and Release Engineer (DRE) Driveline & Axle Product Release Center acts as the owner of assigned driveline & axle components (e.g. Axles, RDM, PTU, T-Case, prop shaft, half shaft, brackets, etc.). Executes product design, analysis, release and testing per technical infrastructure and FCA PCPC (the "how ).
- Responsible for the complete design and product delivery against technical requirements for the assigned components and products. Components and products may be complex, or include new technology, requiring related and relevant prior experience.
- Develop subject matter expertise for select components or assemblies as assigned
- Coach entry level engineers as required
- Recognized as a single point of contact for suppliers' product engineering.
- Manages and tracks supplier product engineering activities and deliverables, including supplier test plans and test execution.
- Prepares product engineering work plans in accordance with program and project timing and milestones.
- Completes and documents for advanced analysis and simulation of actuation mechanisms, including electro-mechanical and servo-hydraulic subsystems.
Executes engineering deliverables in adherence to technical infrastructure and product development process deliverables, reviews, signoffs, and report-outs, including :
Develops technical requirements for components and subsystems of driveline & axles including purchased assemblies.Completes all required technical source package documentation to support supplier quotesEvaluates designs to the engineering best practice documents and completes supplier design reviewsCaptures all lessons learned, and ensures timely execution of all calculations, analysis, and simulation in alignment with test plans and requirementsDevelops DFMEAs and evaluates designs for failure modes robustnessDevelops and executes component and subsystem DVP&R plans to validate all aspects of new designs and design changes, including DRBTR.Supports the development of the system DVP&RsDevelops tools, test procedures and acceptance criteria for driveline & axles, components, subassemblies and purchased assembliesCollaborates appropriate design detailing and CAE activitiesEnsures transfer functions and physics-based analysis are defined and documented for all actuation subsystems and components.Delivers EBOM, models, drawings for components, subassemblies, and purchased assembliesGenerates engineering documentation in support of change management, including DRBFMDelivers parts / hardware to pilot builds, including requisitions for prototypes and ED&D.Collaborates with transmission and driveline systems subject matter experts, ACEs, DSEs, AEs, and other stakeholders to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes.Prepares status reports and presentations for management and CE organizationSupports manufacturing on production-related issuesGenerates cost reduction ideas and develops and executes corresponding design and validation plans.Participate in warranty / cost reduction meetings and develops solutions for warranty issuesConducts root cause analysis of driveline & axles failures and identify the root cause / sConducts Layered Process Audits at supplier plants for assigned components.Requirements :
5 years experience minimumBachelor of Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering degree or similar2 years of experience in the automotive industry or product engineering design, validation and engineering projects development with OEM and / or tier(n) suppliers. OR a high potential College graduate with good knowledge about Automotive industry and driveline / Axles components / subsystems.Thorough understanding of vehicle functions and general vehicle architectureUnderstanding of typical automotive manufacturing and quality processesAdvanced English language skills 90% (Read and Write).Proficient with MS Office.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Master's degree in mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering highly desiredGreen / Black Belt in Shainin or DFSSExperience in transmission, driveline & axles or related areaKnowledge of Stellantis Systems and / or products a plusCAE / CFD experiences with Powertrain structuresExperience with the fundamentals of CAN communicationsExperience with electric motors for automotive applicationsKnowledge of Casting and Injection Molding processes.Other languages : Italian or FrenchAdditional Information / Must Have's :
