Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Spacecraft Systems Engineers to support programs based in Gilbert, Arizona.
Spacecraft Systems Engineers are key members of a cross-disciplinary team helping drive the design, development, integration & test, launch, and on-orbit operations of complex space systems and capabilities. As a Spacecraft Systems Engineer, you will have unique opportunities to witness and take part in the entire engineering lifecycle culminating in the on-orbit delivery of fully mission capable space vehicles to our customers! Responsibilities
- Support program technical execution in accordance with Northrop Grumman Systems Engineering processes and best practices
- Perform technical planning and analyses at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal
- Assist requirements development, allocation, and interface definition efforts
- As the system design matures & evolves, utilize different tools and databases to keep technical artifacts up to date and help ensure the technical baseline is maintained
- Play a key role in major program milestone and readiness reviews
- Author and provide input to program data products and other vital deliverables including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Command & Telemetry Databases (CTDB), test plans, test procedures, and automated test scripts
- Help support critical test campaigns designed to exercise spacecraft functionality, measure performance, and verify survivability in the extreme launch and space environments
- Work directly with and communicate technical and programmatic status to program leadership and Customers
- Lead by example and be willing to mentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise teammates
This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4.
Basic Qualifications
Principal Engineer
Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learnBachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with at least 5 years of experience; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhDPrevious engineering experienceMust have U.S. Citizenship with active DoD Top Secret clearance at time of applicationPrincipal Engineer

Electrical engineering and Integration & test experienceAdvanced degree in engineering, physics, or computer scienceActive DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCIPossess strong leadership qualities, as well as strong communication skillsExperience working on spacecraft or aircraft systemsExperience with scripting languages such as STOL, PERL, and PYTHONExperience in systems engineering to include architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management, hardware / software integration, and test planning & executionExperience with various technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEOExperience in any of the following areas is also desired : orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, optics, communications, rocket propulsion, thermal engineering, or spacecraft integration and testingKnowledge of Launch Vehicles, System Safety, System Reliability, Contamination Control, EMI, Space Environments (Radiation, Surface Charging, etc.), and Human Factors is also desiredExperience and / or training in Earned Value Management SystemsNorthrop Grumman Offers a Competitive And Robust Benefits Program
