Overview
Assistant Professor- Structural Biochemist position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). The successful candidate will be a tenure-track assistant professor focusing on biochemistry pertaining to Structural Biology (cryo-EM). The candidate should possess expertise in cryo-EM for elucidating the structure and function of biological macromolecular assemblies at atomic-level resolution, including protein purification, sample preparation for grids, hands-on experience with an electron microscope, and extensive data processing for cryo-EM reconstruction as demonstrated by first-author publications. The successful candidate is expected to engage at the departmental level through curricular development, lead program expansion through collaborations, and attract external funding to build and sustain the research program.
