Overview
JMT is seeking a motivated and innovative Water Resources - H&H Project Engineer I with 8+ years hydrologic and hydraulic experience to join their Fort Washington, PA team. The team works on improving a variety of infrastructure and resiliency projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and JMT's footprint.
Responsibilities
- Focus on hydrology and hydraulic studies but perform engineering design, watershed modeling, permitting, construction support, and inspection tasks.
- Demonstrate proficiency across the water resources discipline, including drainage design, grading, erosion and sediment control design, stormwater management design, hydrology, and hydraulic modeling, permitting, utility coordination and clash detection, specification development, and quantity takeoffs.

- Familiar with federal, state and local jurisdiction design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Understand the project lifecycle and design phases; provide high quality deliverables in accordance with client specifications and requirements.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies using computer models and data research / capture, following applicable standards and data capture protocols.
- Use software such as HEC-RAS, HEC GeoRAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-GeoHMS, and ArcGIS (steady and unsteady computational modes as applicable).
- Prepare technical reports with profiles, tables, maps, and other formats to communicate results, data research, model development, and methodology.
- Complete FEMA Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA).
- Complete design tasks including identifying watersheds, drainage patterns, soil conditions; delineate drainage areas; complete land cover and time of concentration calculations; perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of streams, bridges, culverts, and pipes to establish water surface profiles and floodplain delineations.
- Design stormwater management practices and drainage networks (pipes, slopes, outfalls).
- Complete permit applications for state and local agencies.
- Utilize general engineering principles daily and prepare technical reports of design approach, methodology, and results.
- Coordinate with internal team members and external stakeholders to ensure project completion by deadlines and with established quality.
- Coordinate with contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and JMT staff from multiple locations and disciplines.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering from an ABET-accredited university8+ years of experience with infrastructure and resiliency projectsQualification Requirements
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hireHydrologic Modeling experience using TR55 / TR20 and Rational MethodologiesHydraulic Modeling experience using 1D / 2D modeling softwareQualifications Preferred
Experience working in PAProficient in MicrostationExperience with ORD SUDAWorking knowledge of HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-GeoRAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-GeoHMS, SWMM, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, ICPR, and / or SWMMFamiliarity with FEMA, Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Studies, and related guidelinesExperience utilizing FEMA's Cost Benefit Analysis (BCA) ToolDam and Levee Engineering including AccreditationWorking Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 85% of the time. The work is generally sedentary but may require standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate with no hazardous conditions caused by noise or dust in the office. Field work is required occasionally in outdoor conditions; some lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
