DEQ has an open opportunity for a STATE MINING ENGINEER III (Flexible / Hybrid)
This position is located at 512 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh NC

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid / remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
The State Mining Engineer position manages the statewide implementation of the Mining Act of 1971, including permitting, inspection, enforcement, and education and training of the mining industry and the general public. The State Mining Engineer III is responsible for independently planning and conducting the mine regulatory program through reviewing program needs on a continual basis and establishing program priorities.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must either possess a valid Professional Engineer's (PE) License or obtain a valid PE License within nine (9) months of the start date for the position.
Obtaining and maintaining a valid PE license is a continuing condition of employment. Failure to obtain a valid PE license within 9 months of the position's start date will result in separation from employment.

If selected for this position, the salary offered will be within the posted recruitment range of $67,852 - $100,271. I am aware that if offered this position, the maximum salary offer will be limited to $100,271.
