Vice President of R&D Medical Device Engineering - Neurovascular Microcatheter

Location : Milpitas, CA

Reports to : Chief Operating Officer

Salary Range : $180,000 – $210,000

Experience : 10+ years in medical device engineering, with direct neurovascular microcatheter expertise

About Galaxy Therapeutics

Galaxy Therapeutics is a private, US-based, clinical-stage medical device company pioneering implant technology to treat brain aneurysms. Our Saccular Endovascular Aneurysm Lattice treatment system, Seal™, targets a $1B+ market opportunity. We’ve demonstrated proof of concept and clinical safety in our Pre-SEAL IT trial and are actively enrolling in our Pre-Market Approval SEAL-IT trial across the US and internationally. Our core team is based in Milpitas, CA.

About the Role

We’re hiring a hands-on Vice President of R&D Engineering to lead the design, development, and clinical translation of our neurovascular microcatheter systems. This is not a research role. We’re looking for a technical operator who prototypes, tests, iterates, and leads with sleeves rolled up - someone who’s built devices that have gone into patients, not just papers.

You’ll own the full product lifecycle from concept through market release, working directly with physicians, regulatory experts, and manufacturing partners to bring next-generation neurovascular devices to life.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and clinical translation of neurovascular microcatheter systems, from concept through market release.
  • Collaborate with physicians, regulatory experts, and manufacturing partners to bring devices to life.
  • Oversee V&V, design controls, and regulatory documentation for Class II / III devices.
  • Drive hands-on bench testing, prototyping, and clinical case support.
  • Manage cross-functional teams and ensure timely product progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biomedical, Mechanical, or related engineering field
  • 10+ years in medical device engineering, with 3+ years focused on neurovascular microcatheter systems
  • Proven track record of hands-on product development — from concept to clinical use
  • Experience with bench testing, prototyping, and clinical case support
  • Experience leading V&V, design controls, and regulatory documentation for Class II / III devices
  • Strong CAD (SolidWorks), statistical analysis, and technical writing skills
  • Deep understanding of catheter mechanics, neurovascular anatomy, and clinical workflows
  • Preference given to candidates with device launch experience
  • #J-18808-Ljbffr
