Division of Sidewalk & Inspection Management (SIM)

SIM manages over 12,750 miles of sidewalk and more than 185,000 corners citywide. The Pedestrian Ramp Program (PRP), within SIM, aims to provide accessible pedestrian (curb) ramps meeting legal standards, crucial for safe and accessible city travel, especially for seniors and persons with disabilities.

Job Opportunity

PRP offers an exciting role within a dynamic team. The selected candidate will join the Engineering Team, responsible for designing, managing, reviewing, and inspecting pedestrian ramp projects, ensuring ADA compliance, and coordinating with city agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing pedestrian ramps and develop accessible design solutions.
• Review projects for ADA compliance and coordinate with various stakeholders.
• Manage pedestrian ramp contracts throughout project lifecycle, ensuring projects are on time and within budget.
• Prepare project scopes, monitor budgets, schedules, and mitigate risks.
• Attend site visits and perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Skills

Candidates must be permanently in the Civil Engineer title, or eligible via the civil service exam #4030 or #0156, and eligible under the 55a program. Experience with roadway reconstruction, NYC infrastructure, and ADA standards is preferred. Excellent computer and communication skills are desired.
