Police Services Internship
The City of Boca Raton Police Services Department offers an internship opportunity for students enrolled in a state accredited college or university. The internship provides hands-on experience across various bureaus including Road Patrol, Detective Bureau, Community Engagement, Special Operations, and Public Safety Dispatch.
Interns will shadow police officers and nonsworn personnel, learn about department procedures, and gain a deeper understanding of the municipal police services department.
Interns are expected to comply with all City and Department rules and regulations, complete the required hours, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Internships are available during each college semester, with two positions available per semester. Minimum eligibility includes attending a state accredited college or university, having successfully registered for an internship class, supplying a letter of intent from the college or university's Internship Program Director, completing an oral board interview, and passing a pre-employment screening including a polygraph examination and an extensive background check.
Final offer and employment are contingent upon successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment screening items including a criminal background check, employment verification, reference checks, educational verification, credit check, fingerprinting, polygraph, neighborhood check, and drug and alcohol screen.
The City of Boca Raton is an equal opportunity, inclusive, veteran's preference employer and drug free workplace.
