The Florida Department of Education is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the chief of the state's Career and Technical Education Program operations. This individual plays a key role in shaping and enhancing the state's career and technical education programs. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of career-focused learning, a passion for educational excellence, and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, administrators, and industry partners.

This position requires substantial knowledge of current economic needs and the ability to access the appropriate resources to keep up-to-date with changing trends in education. Experience with career and technical education, adult education, and apprenticeship curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies are critical to performing in this role. The ability to facilitate career and technical education program development to support new and emerging economic needs of the state are skills the incumbent will need to meet the demands of this position. Knowledge of relevant legislative and statutory regulations relevant to workforce education are keys to success in this role. The ability to analyze and use data effectively for operational and program improvement are abilities the incumbent must possess. Expertise and demonstrated effectiveness in the areas of problem solving, decision making and project management are valuable characteristics in this position. The aptitude to establish priorities and to efficiently handle multiple competing priorities are necessary skills in Bureau Chief role. Effective management and supervisory skills in support of a team approach to organizational development and interpersonal and communication skills are required for this position.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include : supervising and motivating subordinates, completing performance appraisals, developing work plans, approving attendance and leave, managing personnel activities, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of the Adult Education State Plan, providing technical assistance to local providers, and overseeing the development and implementation of the Perkins State Plan and the Adult Education State Plan. The bureau chief also provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program standards, benchmarks, and frameworks, and ensures equity of access and outcome achievement for special populations.
