Job Summary / Basic Function
Responsibilities include teaching Business Administration courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, university service, and advising. Courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.
The new assistant professor is responsible for duties as outlined in the Shepherd University Faculty Handbook. ( The teaching load is a 4-4 but typically spread over a relatively low number of total students. Salary and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience; Teaching schedules are flexible, but the full-time position does require an on-campus presence for face-to-face interaction with students and faculty. Occasional evening and weekend activities may be necessary for student activities and community outreach events.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or D.B.A. in business, or closely related field, from an accredited program
Have a desire to teach applied classes supported by technology; and, a willingness to build creative learning environments with other academic disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
The department is looking for candidates with a J.D., a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in business, or closely related field, from an accredited program. The ability to teach statistics, business analytics, AI in business and a second area of expertise including business law, HR, or any other required or elective business courses.
ABDs who are close to finishing will also be considered. The candidates should have a desire to teach applied classes supported by technology; and a willingness to build creative learning environments with other academic disciplines. Experience with advising student groups, organizing business competitions, and business community outreach should also be noted by candidates.
