Maintenance Worker
Perform routine and preventative maintenance at the University campus with a strong focus on HVAC systems. Address service requests from faculty, staff, and students, and complete assigned work orders from facilities supervisors. Responsibilities include inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and minor installations related to heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, ensuring reliable and safe operation across multiple campus buildings.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Service Calls & Emergency Response
Provide responsive, customer-focused service.
Deliver courteous, timely support for faculty, staff, and student concerns.
Prioritize and complete work orders efficiently.
Assess issues and determine when escalation or specialized support is needed.
Support special events and room setups.
Routine Maintenance & Repairs
Perform basic repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, windows, and doors.
Execute patching, painting, caulking, and general upkeep.
Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, hardware, and furniture components.
Building Systems Support
Must be able to perform light troubleshooting of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical as needed.
Report issues requiring skilled trades or contractors.
Preventative Maintenance
Perform scheduled building inspections and maintenance tasks.
Ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness of building common areas.
Check and maintain equipment such as sump pumps, filters, and fans.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment serviced
Report on building issues or safety concerns to supervisors
Working Conditions
Require standing, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working on ladders or at heights.
Work may occur indoors and outdoors, in varying weather and temperature conditions.
Exposure to pool chemicals, noise, and mechanical equipment is expected.
May be required to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts for emergencies.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class E driver's license (or equivalent from another state).
Must be available 24 / 7 for emergencies and willing to work overtime.
Preferred Qualifications
Two-year degree or certification in a technical field.
Five or more years of experience in facilities maintenance.
Position requires background checks, and other applicable pre-employment checks.
Compensation
$31.60 per hour
