Base pay range

$70,000.00 / yr - $100,000.00 / yr

Job Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing safety duties, including day-to-day service and repairs, capital improvements, and maintaining a safe workplace for all employees. This role requires extensive knowledge of operations protocols, identifying areas for efficiency improvements while adhering to safety policies. The Safety Manager supervises all Safety employees.

Responsibilities

Operational

  • Implement and sustain company–wide safety strategies, programs, and goals at assigned facilities.
  • Manage EHS risks proactively, create / maintain injury prevention plans, and lead incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop and update safety training programs, policies, and procedures; provide training and maintain records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, regulatory guidelines (OSHA, DOT, FDA, NFPA, etc.), and best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Guide management on safety matters and lead safety meetings and projects.
  • Maintain high employee engagement and foster a positive safety culture.
  • Oversee environmental programs including hazardous waste, stormwater, and Tier 2 reporting.

People

  • Complete employee performance reviews timely, providing constructive feedback.
  • Engage with employees regularly to promote safety compliance.
  • Handle administrative duties related to employee management efficiently.

    • Leadership

  • Collaborate with leadership to meet distribution center needs and foster teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with the DCGM and leadership team.
  • Create development plans for employees, focusing on leadership growth.
  • Model integrity and embody company values.
  • Lead by example across the entire distribution center, holding peers and employees accountable.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Work involves standing / walking up to 12 hours / day.
  • Effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing is required.
  • Use hands for grasping and manipulation; perform bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs regularly.

    • Experience

  • 1-3 years in safety management or related field.

    • Education

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Forklift certification and OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

    • Desired Traits
