Job Description\n

American Traveler seeks an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of experience for an acute care hospital inpatient setting, with BLS certification and state licensure required.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a short term acute care, inpatient rehabilitation setting
  • Monday through Friday day shifts (7 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM, flexible start up to 8 : 00 AM)
  • Required to work one full weekend per 4-week period with a weekday off that week
  • Serve diverse patient populations including cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, trauma, surgical, oncology, and general medicine
  • Utilize special equipment including SPH equipment, vital carts, iPad interpreter, and ADL supplies
  • Required to float within therapy service lines as needed within the hospital
  • No floating to sister facilities required
  • EPIC charting system used; experience with EPIC required
  • Scrub color is black or grey
  • Establish and implement individual treatment plans, considering patients' discharge needs and expected functional status
  • Provide patient and family education and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Delegate appropriate interventions to assistants and technicians based on competency and patient needs
  • Complete all documentation in accordance with departmental policies
  • Role is focused on primary inpatient care
  • Facility is a teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma center
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
  • No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
  • Return staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum 7 days of requested time off within a 13-week contract; no time off allowed during the first week of assignment
  • Day shift assignment with required participation in weekend coverage
  • Parking information provided during orientation; monthly parking passes available for a fee

  • Active state Occupational Therapist license required for consideration; pending license accepted for Missouri, must have license in hand for Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant Occupational Therapy experience
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Completion of required skills checklist
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
  • Valid Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
  • References from supervisors within the past 2 years preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
