Job Summary :
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate assistance and support to residents with severe disabilities in a Level 4 I adult residential care setting. This role focuses on supporting non-ambulatory residents, assisting with daily living activities, transporting clients to and from day programs, and promoting independence with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support residents in maintaining personal hygiene and hygiene routines.
- Provide mobility support, including transferring from bed to wheelchair, using appropriate safety techniques.
- Assist with feeding and nutrition, ensuring residents receive proper meals, hydration, and dietary requirements.
- Transport residents safely to and from day programs, medical appointments, and community outings.
- Follow care plans and document all care activities accurately and thoroughly.
- Monitor residents’ physical and emotional well-being and report any changes or concerns to supervisory staff.
- Support residents’ social, recreational, and community activities to promote engagement and independence.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment, including cleaning resident areas and others as needed.
- Use positive communication techniques and model respectful social behavior.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting, transfer techniques, and medication administration (as assigned).
- Collaborate effectively with team members, family members, and supervisory staff to ensure quality care.
