- Purpose of this position :
- In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs and documents comprehensive occupational therapy evaluationsDevelops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safetyObserves, evaluates and documents patient’s progressParticipates in hospital rounds and patient care conferencesEducates patients and care gives on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatmentsCompletes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standardsFunctions as a clinical instructor for occupational therapy studentsDirects and supervises activities performed by the OT aides consistent with their training and skill (patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected treatment procedures, clerical duties, and departmental maintenance)Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipmentDevelops and conducts occupational therapy in-services for other staffOrients and mentors newly assigned staffServes as a clinical resource for other staffParticipates in program developmentRepresents the occupational therapy department on committees and provides consultation to other departments and agencies as assignedAssumes responsibilities of the supervisor as assigned during the supervisor’s absenceProvides work direction for clerical staffAssists in monitoring the quality of occupational therapy activities and servicesFunctions as a resource for departmental policies and proceduresQUALIFICATIONS :

Graduation from an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the American Medical AssociationMinimum of 2 fulltime years of experience (4,160 hours)/ Preferred Qualifications : /
Previous clinical experience / rehabilitation experienceCPR certification/ Knowledge / Skills / Abilities : /
Knowledge of policies / procedures and practice standards; occupational therapy theory, techniques, and treatment, physical therapy and orthopedic equipment; counseling and educational techniques; bandaging and wrapping techniquesAbility to perform professional occupational therapy techniques and treatment; calibrate and operate occupational therapy equipmentAbility to provide work direction for ancillary personnelAbility to counsel and instruct patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progressAbility to work cooperatively with other members of the medical teamAbility to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles including ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from his / her ownAbility to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians' notesAbility to interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity (educate) / License / Certifications : /Certified or eligible for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination for Occupational Therapist, Registered.
