Role Overview

Picture your day : a morning Gemba walk through a high‑mix, medium‑volume transmission remanufacturing operation; a quick review of OEE, takt time, and scrap trends; then facilitating a rapid improvement workshop on a stubborn bottleneck. By afternoon, you’re aligning supply chain, engineering, quality, and warehouse leaders around a value stream plan, coaching supervisors on standard work, and closing the loop on yesterday’s Kaizen actions. That’s the rhythm of our Director of Lean Transformation.

What You’ll Lead

  • Build, mentor, and elevate a high-performing CI organization (CI managers and CI technicians / industrial engineers).
  • Own the Lean roadmap tailored to remanufacturing flows : disassembly, cleaning, inspection, component repair, reassembly, and testing.
  • Deploy and sustain 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kanban, TPM, and Visual Management to remove waste and compress lead times.
  • Diagnose non–value-added activity across the transmission value stream; drive throughput, quality, and productivity gains.
  • Partner cross-functionally (operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, warehouse) to align initiatives with business outcomes.
  • Use data-driven analysis to evaluate current processes and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and facilitate Kaizen events and rapid improvement workshops that deliver measurable results and engagement.
  • Coach, mentor, and train team members at every level in Lean principles, tools, and problem solving.
  • Define, track, and act on metrics such as productivity, OEE, takt adherence, and scrap / rework rates.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and structured problem solving.
  • Guide change management and ensure clear communication from kickoff through sustainment.

  • Strong understanding of remanufacturing processes and challenges.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or equivalent) preferred.
