Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is currently seeking a Staff Systems Engineer for our Charlotteville, Virginia or Sykesville, Maryland locations to lead our new Micro Reactor Control efforts. The incumbent should be knowledgeable in reactivity controls and is preferred to have experience in MATLAB / Simulink development for nuclear power plant applications. Must have nuclear operational plant experience. This engineer will be responsible for the steady state and transient analyses of the reactor, the power conversion cycle, as well as its support systems.
What You'll Get to Do :
Work with the Discipline Lead and System Engineers to develop analysis workflows and document them in an analysis plan in accordance with the Northrop Grumman Quality Assurance (QA) program.
Establish and perform plant modeling using MATLAB / Simulink for component sizing, operating ranges, supporting design-by-analysis, performance verification, or accident analyses.
Propose design / control solutions to system engineers, based on insights gained from the analyses.
Write reports to document the model.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelors of Science in STEM related field with 12 years experience; Masters with 10 Years experience; 8 Years with PhD.
US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Strong knowledge of reactivity control
Experience working with or for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or commercial nuclear experience
Preferred Qualifications :
Active Secret Clearance
Advanced degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink programming languages and scripting experience
Familiarity with programming in one or more of the following : C#, C++, Python, VisualBasic, or MATLAB.
Familiarity with industrial process control and control theory.
Practical experience with power systems, thermal energy equipment, or industrial plants
Knowledgeable about NQA-1 Quality Requirements
Salary Range : $147,700 - $244,800
