Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Facilities Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of electrical engineers and designers supporting facilities electrical design, electrical infrastructure and power distribution systems, and construction project management.
The position will be based out of Tucson Airport Site, Tucson, Arizona, and will support sites in New Mexico (Southwest Region) with occasional opportunities to consult on projects within the West, Central, South East and other RTX regions.
What You Will Do
- Lead the facilities electrical engineering and design team.
- Manage core electrical infrastructure systems including outdoor substations, medium and low voltage power distribution systems, emergency and standby power systems, UPS, 400Hz power converters, fire alarm and fire protection systems, communication systems, grounding and lightning protection systems and other specialty systems.
- Monitor and develop short- to mid-term site electrical medium voltage power distribution and infrastructure system planning and project development, scoping and budgetary cost estimating.
- Expertly design project load sizing, coordination studies, arc flash and lightning protection maintenance and studies, and development of construction drawings.
- Develop and lead electrical design for panel schedules, studies, labeling using SKM Power Tools, ETAP or equivalent and panel sizing and designs.
- Provide leadership and expert knowledge with the in-house electrical metering system and electrical troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure.
- Prepare bid documents and manage electrical construction coordination and administration for office renovations, manufacturing space expansions, laboratory fit-outs and manufacturing equipment installations.
- Support a project from design through bid cycle, construction project management and closeout.
- Coordinate with project estimating, project scheduling, and building electrical systems design.
- Lead the team in electrical maintenance and shutdown activities.
- Review practices and processes to improve electrical systems maintenance and reduce business risk related to core electrical systems.
- Lead and define customer requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) for all projects.
- Lead the team on electrical system installation, repair or construction to ensure projects are fully commissioned and handed over to customers.
- Lead the electrical team to create and maintain RTX and Raytheon Corporate EHS&S Standards, policy requirements and codes.
- Lead electrical design and construction to ensure compliance with RTX, Raytheon, Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards for assigned electrical systems.
- Coordinate electrical designs with other building design disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, IT, and security.
- Prepare diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents and construction administration.
- Meet with customers, develop continuous improvement projects, conduct coordination studies and project management.
- Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources such as information technology, safety, security, internal construction trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications You Must Have
BS Electrical Engineering (BSEE), BS Architectural Engineer, Power Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in building electrical engineering, or an advanced degree with seven (7) years of experience.The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Active Professional Engineering license / registration in Electrical Engineering in the state of Arizona or eligibility to obtain within 6 months from date of hire.At least five (5) years in building electrical engineering with expertise in : high, medium and low voltage distribution; multi-frequency power distribution; industrial grounding and bonding; lightning protection per NFPA 780 and Air Force explosive requirements; load calculations and distribution equipment sizing; industrial controls and interlock systems; electrical power distribution system analysis (load, voltage drop, fault current, motor starting, harmonic and arc flash labeling); overcurrent protective device coordination; interior and exterior lighting design and controls; familiarity with building electrical systems and construction; and at least ten (10) years of construction project management including customer scoping meetings, budget monitoring, scheduling, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close-out; plus at least ten (10) years writing clear technical engineering specifications, reports and operating procedures.Qualifications We Prefer
Working knowledge of SKM Power Tools or related software for short circuit and arc fault analysis, load flow and voltage drop, feeder and transformer sizing, and overcurrent protection coordination studies.Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with leadership, suppliers, contractors, and internal customers.Proficiency in reading, printing / plotting, and creating CAD drawings and construction documents.Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70, 70E, 72, 90, 101, 110 and relevant codes / regulations for facilities design / engineering, operations and maintenance.Solid computer skills including AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project Scheduler.Knowledge of ICD705 physical security requirements for sensitive compartments buildings / structures.Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance within 120 days of acceptance and start of employment with RTX.Role Type

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including the role, location, education, and key skills.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
